When I was in high school, hot packs really helped! (cystic/nodule acne) I would put a cotton ball that was soaked in the hottest water I could stand and leave it on there for as long as 15 minutes on and off (it would be hot). This would bring it to the surface and or make it heal over much much faster. I saw another recommendation where if it isnt a whitehead yet to put ice on it (under a towel ofcourse not directly)this makes your body "resorb" it/decreases inflammation.
