Do a google search for wood toxicity chart and you will get lots of info.

Thanks for posting these clips on youtube Mr. Neil. I'm studying woodworking in England and some of your techniques are very helpfull.

There must be somewhere. I get my info from a book, 'Carpentry and Joinery', by Peter Brett...

None of that sounds good. Is there a website that discusses the health concerns of each species?

Wenge can effect the central nervous system if the dust is inhaled. It can also cause dermatitis and any splinters present a risk of going septic. Ebony can also cause dermatitis, plus mucus membrane irritation. Padouk can irritate the eyes and throat, causing vomiting.

I'm building it to coordinate with my mid-century modern decor, which is mostly walnut, teak, and rosewood. I guess maple could be stained dark, but it would be nice to use walnut, teak, or rosewood. Maybe wenge, cocobola, ebony, padouk, etc. Is there a website that lists "toxic" hardwoods? I'd like to know which are more dangerous if consumed.

I like something like a simple hard maple, its hard and pretty nontoxic, its hard enough to discourage too much chewing |
